Re: Dyfi Osprey Project
Bore da - We think Gwynant has started his migration.
He was last seen on the larch tree with his father late on Saturday night. His sister, Deri, has become very territorial over the last few days, not even letting Gwynant land on the nest.
Gwynant reminds us so much of his half brother Einion in 2011 - very independent, easy going and determined. He even left on the same day as Einion, August 31st.
Gwynant probably left early yesterday morning - he may well be crossing the English Channel to France right now.
We wish him all the best, starting the greatest journey of his life. You've made a lot of people very happy - good luck, see you in a couple of years mate.

Bore da
Here's a rare photo for the album - Just before he left, Gwynant with a fish and Deri without!
Deri is very much still with us. She can be heard from Aberystwyth and occasionally form Dublin when the wind is right.

Bore da
We last saw Deri at 10:33 on the larch perch yesterday morning. She lifted off, gained height, and flew south-west down the estuary.
Monty stayed around the nest all day looking for her. He's on his perch again now with a mullet in his talons. He's still looking.
The Dyfi has suddenly become very quiet this morning.

We think Monty has gone.
At 10:50 he flew off his larch perch and immediately started to circle and gain height. We watched him for another 18 minutes until he was a tiny spec, high in the blue sky - he must have been half a mile up.
He then circled one last time before breaking off and heading south. We lost sight of him high over the Ceredigion hills at 11:08.
See you next year mate.
