Blue arrives at nest - April 10, 2015

No signals until today but yesterday’s data shows that Blue set of at 9.38am on 9th April and crossed the Scottish Border at 10.16am. He turned NNW and flew out over the Firth of Forth from Leith to Kingshorn. He flew over Loch of the Lowes osprey loch at 2.40pm and at Blair Athol turned north over the Cairngorms. At 4pm he was high over Glenfeshie and flew straight to his old nest in Strathspey, arriving at 4.15pm. His mate Green J is heading up through France and should be home soon.

Today Blue had a brief overfly of the Loch Garten nest at 9am and then made two trips to fish as far as Rothiemurchus Fishery. Another season has started.

Loch Garten osprey diary

Right on cue, 12 days after Odin’s return, EJ is successfully up the duff! EJ started looking ‘eggy’ at around 15.43 this afternoon and so we had our noses pressed up against the TV screens, trying to peak underneath her to see if she was indeed laying an egg. At 15.48 she shuffled about and gave us a glimpse of the first egg of 2015...

There is no such thing as a lie in when you’re an osprey! EJ laid her third and final egg at around 7.20am this morning.

Second chick hatched at Loch of the Lowes! - Posted on May 23, 2015 by charlotteranger

A second osprey egg has hatched this morning at Loch of the Lowes. The exact timing is to be confirmed, but the chick was first spotted by volunteers at 8:15am. The adult female attempted to feed it almost immediately with a fish saved on the nest from yesterday. A full update will follow later today…
