A big thank you to Sophie.

Credo che dobbiamo adattarci all'adagio "no news, good news", sia pure a malincuore, perché dovrebbero essere avvistabili.

I've still been going to the bridge and gorge most nights. The girls are starting to travel a bit further to the south (downtown) lately. From the bridge you can see them flying and playing talon tag over the tall buildings. Very cool! Lou took some pictures of the girls bathing in the river this past weekend (I was there to witness this and it was awesome) and some from Linn with a kill. We actually think now that she took her meal from a nest since there was no food drop. Enjoy the pictures! They're great!

Grace & Linn hit the beach:

The girls are getting more scarce in the last week or so. I'm SO sad! Well, I should say all except Grace. She seems to love the gorge area and loves to annoy the ducks, gulls, crows, herons, etc. I had left there last night about 8:00 and wouldn't you know she showed up. Did some close fly overs and put on a good show. Saturday morning she had a tiff with a robin. The robin was actually yelling at her. The picture attached is from Carol P. I saw a video of it too, but was unable to post it. This morning Mariah came and did a few circles above us. What a beautiful bird she is! We located a couple of the gals on top corners of buildings downtown. They seem to want to hang around downtown alot so this week I will go there in search of them. (Sophie on the Cleveland message board) Thx, Sophie! :D

http://rfalconcam.com/imprints/
Thx, Sophie! :D

We have very exciting news to present on two fronts. Falcon fans Tom Flaherty and Rod Curscrew report having spotted Linn (photo above) on August 10 at the Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, about fifty miles west of her Rochester home. Tom and Rod tell us that they were at the refuge watching and photographing wood ducks when they noticed Linn perched in a tree overlooking the ducks. Here are some more pictures from Tom and Rod.

Good luck, little beauties!

rhea mae!!!!

Wednesday August 22, 2007
Linda Woods reports: Well, what can I say. For the past week or more, Jan and I have been observing two peregrines at the Sheraton and vicinity. I first we both thought it was the two juveniles hanging tight together. The larger peregrine (female) being Dina and the smaller,( male) being Kevin, or so we thought.

Even during our observations we were questioning ourselves, because of lack a clear viewing through scopes and binoculars.

On August 16th, I was able to finally be at the right place at the right time and see the leg bands on this female that has been fraternizing with Tiago. Perhaps, Tiago is just following in his father's footsteps ( Windwhistler) and she has followed. With the assistance of fellow peregrine lover across the border together we were able to ID this female peregrine. Her name is RHEA MAE and she is a 2006 Hatch from Rochester, New York, from the Kodak nest site.

It is clear now that Tiago is pursuing her. Today I witnessed Tiago digging a very deep scrape near the Osler camera, as she stood by and watched. Oh, she pretended to not to notice, but she certainly did check it out, after he gave her to OK to do so. A lot head bowing and cherups, and a couple times they appeared to be frozen in the stances, staring each other in the eye. She even raised her right talon up towards him. I couldn't see if he was mirroring her and doing the same thing. Perhaps the males are enchanted by the size of the females' feet and she was just showing him her shoe size. After the "dance" Tiago broke off and went off to sit on the lip of the ledge, while she thoroughly checked out the area in behind the Osler camera. She sat on the camera for a short bit and then took off herself.

Either way, this is a change of events. Wind has not been clearly seen for some time now. Kevin has not been seen in the area for weeks, and Dina was last seen in this area on August 13, 2007. Not sure if this activity will be permanent. Wind may be off somewhere tending to Dina and Kevin. Anything is possible and this being the fall things could change again. In the meantime, we'll keep our eyes to the sky and watch for the juvies and Wind and watch over the new resident and protect her as we do all our other peregrine charges.
