Falchi pellegrini a Omaha, Nebraska (Woodmen falcons)
Moderatori: Passera, Giovanna, Giac, °°Gaia°°
At last count we have four falcon eggs in the east box. Both Zeus and Hera are sharing in the incubating. Our time line seems to be the following: first egg arrived March 28; followed by the second egg on March 31. The third egg arrived on April 2 and this fourth egg arrived sometime over the weekend, let's just say on Sunday, April 5. If we count ahead 33 days to May 8 we might start seeing some hatching going on. However, everything hinges on when the last egg will be laid and of course Mother Nature.
Bravi Zeus e Hera, soprattutto dopo i problemi dell'anno scorso

Dal FalconWatch BlogHera has laid her fifth egg and both parents are taking their turn on the eggs. They have a routine switch time around 8:30 a.m. Zeus is usually the one on the eggs at that time.
Siamo a quota 5!!

Representatives from the Nebraska Game & Parks Commission as well as the Raptor Recovery Center were on hand this morning to band Zeus and Hera's four latest chicks and to determine their genders. All went very well and the banding was a success, and it was determined that we have three females and one male falcon chick! That being said, please start thinking of your four favorite names for the chicks, as the naming contest starts on June 1! KMTV Action 3 News will be hosting the contest through their website, where fans can submit their name ideas through June 15. A panel of judges will narrow all submitted names down to the top 12, which will be revealed on June 22. Through June 29, the public can vote on their top 4, and the winners will be announced that week! Winners will receive a framed photo of the falcon they helped name. For full contest details, please visit the KMTV website early next week at http://srv.ezinedirector.net/?n=2929977&s=79078526
For more information on the falcon chicks, stay tuned to the FalconWatch website! http://srv.ezinedirector.net/?n=2929978&s=79078526
*Please note: during the banding this morning, one of the camera cords was cut during removal of the window to get to the chicks. Until the falcons are gone for the season, we're unable to repair the cord and one camera will be out. We apologize for any inconvenience.
