The other day we saw a series of shots that started out with one eagle rubbing the other and ended with what looked like mounting or dismounting related to mating. It's too early for eggs, but our pair might still mate as a bonding exercise.
Nei giorni scorsi abbiamo visto una serie di scatti che iniziano con un'aquila che strofina l'altra e terminano con quello che sembra un salire e scendere simile all'accoppiamento.: E' troppo presto per le uova ma la nostra coppia potrebbe tuttavia unirsi come esercizio all'accoppiamento :D :D

A few days ago we saw our eagle couple bringing fresh pine sprigs to the nest. Fresh pine branches are thought to be 1) a way to signal the nest is taken or 2) a way to keep away parasites (using the strong pine odor)
Pochi giorni fa abbiamo visto la nostra coppia portare al nido rami freschi di pino. Si pensa che questi possano essere 1) un modo per segnalare che il nido è occupato 2)un modo per allontanare i parassiti (usando il forte odore del pino)
Blackwater Refuge will be holding its 2011 Annual Mid-Winter Eagle Survey on January 6, with a rain date of January 7. Blackwater has its largest eagle population during the winter, and these annual surveys help biologists track population changes.
