Reese just posted that: April 19 marks a major milestone for two of the three eaglets. For the first time NC and #2 fed themselves. Between 7:05 and 7:24 this evening NC first stood on the fish and pulled pieces off (photo #1), and then chick #2 did the same (photo #2). It takes muscle, coordination, balance and the ability to stand up before eagles can feed for themselves. For the past few days all three eaglets have been observed pecking at a fish while one of the adults stood on the fish. For the next few days the adults will still feed the chicks, but by next week the chicks will be on their own to feed on food brought to the nest and left for them.

Reese ha appena pubblicato: 19 aprile segna una tappa importante per due dei tre aquilotti. Per la prima volta NC e # 2 si sono nutriti da soli. Tra 7:05 e 7:24 di questa sera NC prima si trovava sul pesce e tirato fuori pezzi (foto # 1), e poi ha fatto lo stesso il pulcino # 2 (foto n. 2). ..... Nei giorni scorsi i tre aquilotti sono stati osservati a beccare un pesce, mentre uno degli adulti si trovava sul pesce. Per i prossimi giorni gli adulti li nutriranno ancora, ma dalla settimana prossima i pulcini si nutriranno da soli col cibo portato al nido e ha lasciato per loro.
