Live Osprey Cam - Blackwater Refuge - Cambridge, Maryland

Lately we've had a Great blue heron paying the occasional visit to the nest. And we also recently saw images of our eagle couple defending the nest very early in the morning. Maybe they were defending it from the heron.

La coppia difende il nido al mattino molto presto. Forse lo stavano difendendo da un airone.

On Friday, it looked like the eagles had a bird meal, based on the amount of feathers in the nest. With more ducks and geese migrating to the Refuge, the eagles are likely to find more sick and injured birds to prey on.
Venerdì scorso, sembra che le aquile abbiano avuto un pasto di uccelli, in base alla quantità di piume nel nido. Con le molte anatre e oche in migrazione verso il Rifugio, le aquile possono trovare uccelli malati e feriti da depredare.

We're seeing the eagles with non-fish food (such as waterfowl) because the Blackwater River has a lot of ice. Check out the photo Jon McRay posted to our Facebook page to see how cold it's been.
This is why ospreys migrate. :-)
Stiamo vedendo le aquile con i prodotti alimentari non di pesce (come uccelli acquatici), perché il fiume Blackwater ha un sacco di ghiaccio.

Questo è il motivo della migrazione del falco pescatore. :-)
PS: la cam del nido ufficiale delle aquile è rotta e devono sotituirla, ma prima devono ordinare quella nuova.
