5/4/09 Chicks have officially fledged, including Tiny. However, don’t be surprised if one or more return to the cavity from time to time to roost during the day. If you tune in you’ll probably hear food begging during the night over the next week or so, but maybe not see any of them. The next few weeks are the most critical “make or break” for these fledglings. They are slowly transitioning from begging food to catching food. This who are successful will then have to find their own territory. And given how much habitat has been lost in southern CA, this is no easy task. Those who are not successful will perish, as do 80-90% of most raptor fledglings. It can’t be any other way given, among other things, the high productivity of a pair over their lifetime, the difficulty of any fledgling to be able to fend for themselves, and the limited amount of unoccupied territories available to fledglings.
Hanno lasaciato il nido, le prossime settimane saranno le più difficili sia per la ricerca del cibo in autonomia ed anche per trovare il loro territorio, chi che non riesce perirà, come fanno 80-90% della maggior parte dei principianti del rapace.

è vero, se vi ricordate il nido è in un albero abbastanza alto con una folta chioma e quindi molto abitato, oltre ai suoni di animali vari si sentono anche i rumori della fattoria ed anche un aereo di passaggio, ma tutto non è molto invadente
