Ceulan's window has just opened and Friday afternoon's flight is in. By 18:00 on Friday evening, he was still heading south and was just 34 miles short of the Senegal River. Ceulan is within reaching distance of crossing the largest desert on earth and making it to water and food.

More points tonight hopefully. Ok, hands up who didn't see the Welsh flag in yesterday's photo!

Senegal - Posted 17-Sep-2012 in Ceulan by Emyr

Ceulan has reached the Senegal River. It took him five days to cross the Sahara desert from the Atlantic coast of northern Morocco, a journey of over 1300 miles. He ate little, if at all, during this time. Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of Ceulan's migration has been the direction he has chosen. He seems to go in straight lines, never veering off the conventional osprey migration route and 'getting lost'. The directionality of his Wales to Senegal migration has no doubt helped him get there in record time. His migration has been problem free, quick and text book in execution.

After crossing the largest desert on earth, things are again looking greener for Ceulan

16:00 Ceulan's data window has just opened, very late this time.
He's pottering around on the Senegal River and one of her tributaries, three miles to the north.
He's hopefully fishing successfully and fattening himself up.
He'll be seeing a lot more ospreys coming over in the next few days and weeks...

vor 14 Minuten - 09:45 Ceulan's data window has just opened - points are in up to 21:00 last night.

It looks like he's taken a fancy to this northern tributary of the Senegal River, the points in the image are from the last two days only, Tuesday and Wednesday. No doubt he has found some good fishing here, building himself up after his 3,000 mile flight from Wales.

See how he's avoiding the built up conurbation, the town of Rosso… clever boy.

Ceulano dopo la puntata al lago di Guiers è tornato a circa 2 miglia a nord del fiume Senegal...forse il pesce non era abbastanza saporito :fish:
