Ciao,

Update: March 23, 2007
Due to circumstances beyond our control, as of January 2007 the Buffalo Peregrine Project will no longer be sponsoring, maintaining or hosting the Buffalo Falcon Cam on our server. We will continue to maintain our forum and post updates regarding the nest as we receive them.

Visit the forum for the latest news! We have members posting about the Buffalo Peregrines as well as other Falcon/Raptor/Owl nest sites throughout the country and the world!

WE WANT TO THANK ALL of those who have supported us and the forum in the past years - we couldn't have done it without you! Our mission was and continues to be focused on the sharing of wildlife observations and helping educate the public about wildlife in urban, suburban and rural areas.

In effetti kimmarie è davvero carinissima.
Anche lei ha chiesto a tutti quelli del forum di non "mollare"...
e io pensavo di continuare a postare i vari aggiornamenti, sia italiani che non.
Peccato però, che i soldi influiscano sempre su tutto!Immagine

NEWS From Buffalo's Peregrine Nest Site at the Statler - Wed. 3/28/07: Two individuals who work in the area stopped to check the lobby monitor and have reported via email that there is an egg in the nest. I received this email today: "Hi Kimmarie, I would say Monday 2007 March 26 evening or Tuesday 2007 March 27 morning. When I went out the one lone egg was unattended, neither parent was in the nest."

Hi Folks!

I took a detour through downtown Buffalo on my way home to Rochester from work in Orchard Park. Arrived at the Statler about 7 PM and stood outside for about 15 minutes waiting for a falcon sighting, but no luck. I went inside the lobby to view the nestcam. A falcon (probably the female) was in the nest sitting. After 25 minutes, she got up and I saw one reddish egg. She flew out to the perch and returned a ½ minute later. About ten minutes later the male flew in to greet his mate. He sat on the perch outside the nest, came in for a second and then flew off. I went outside to see if I could find him, but it was too dark. Headed home at 8 PM.

For those of you going through withdrawal from not seeing the Buffalo Falcons webcam, I thought I would share photos of my watch. The first two pics are views of the nest box. Unfortunately, the falcons were not very accommodating. The remaining 12 nestbox photos were taken from the TV monitor inside the lobby. (It's a better color picture than the TV monitor facing the street.) The last shot is a wing flap away to the nearby building.

3 UOVA A BUFFALO!!!

News da Joyce (Forum Buffalo)

"Statler Falcon Watch Report (Mon. 4/2/07, 1:15-1:45 PM)

I decided to take a late lunch and go to the Statler between 1 and 2 PM (26 miles round trip). I found a close parking place, put in 2 quarters, and hoped to see some action. No sightings on the outside so I took my place in front of the TV monitor. The first 15 minutes Lady Falcon sat on the eggs. Then she moved and I got to see all three eggs (Pic1 below). She changed position and covered the eggs.

Lady Falcon was very alert, turning her head back and forth. I debated going outside to see if I might catch a glimpse of a falcon nearby. About 2 minutes before I had to leave, Sir Falcon came to the nest bearing a gift. (Pic2 below) He had a sizeable prey. She took her food and flew off. He remained on the ledge for a few moments, and then flew off.

The TV monitor has high color saturation. The eggs appear redder than they actually are, so I adjusted the photos. The legs and feet on the male were pretty orange. I lowered my camera and tried to see if there were any bands, but nothing stood out. I can't confirm if there are any bands or not, but I didn't see any bright color that stood out.

Then I went outside and found Lady Falcon on the corner of the building. Feathers were flying. I took some pictures, but it was cloudy, gray, and awfully cold. I should have worn gloves and ear muffs. I also discovered that I took a picture of the wrong nest box the last time, so I'll correct last week's album with the correct one. Are there two shelves?

Oh, on the way back to my car I caught a photo of half a prey on the sidewalk that probably got dropped earlier. No wonder Lady Falcon was hungry.

I'm at work and can't post my photos yet, but I'll send a link later. Here's two cam shots I’m sure you'll enjoy.
